Los Angeles-based developer Lowe has started work on The Talisman, a 286-unit mixed-use project at 7405 168th Ave. N.E. in Redmond Town Center.
Lowe acquired the 1.6-acre site east of Macy's in 2015. Construction began in August.
The six-story building will have 9,400 square feet of street-level retail. Apartments will include a mix of one- and two-bedroom flats and lofts.
The developer describes the design as “industrial inspired.” Apartments will blend “modern urban design with comfortable floorplans and warm finishes, ideal for technology workers who populate the area,” according to a news release by Lowe.
Residents who work for Microsoft will receive an extra perk: a Microsoft Connector shuttle will stop across the street from the building and take them to work.
The project is slated to finish in late summer 2019.
Encore Architects designed the building, and Ankrom Moisan designed the interiors. CompassConstruction is the general contractor.
Other team members include Communita Atelier (landscape architect), KPFF Consulting Engineers (civil engineer), and BCQ (structural engineer).
Greystar will manage the property. Tracy Cornell and Aaron Bennett of JSH Properties will handle the leasing.
Lowe has long been active in the area, with projects such as the renovation and sale for the former Red Lion Hotel Fifth Avenue, construction of the 24-story Luma condominiums on First Hill (with financial partner Alecta), and a development planned for Yesler Terrace.
Lowe is also a joint venture partner in Suncadia Resort near Roslyn.
